SATHYA SAI
BABA and cult - stories, myths and deceits

Sai Baba illustrates many of his discourses with stories from Indian scripture, legend and myth. He also presents these accounts as based on historical reality. He has allowed many baseless rumours primarily about himself - to circulate for decades without saying a word to deny them. He makes many 'divine revelations' and predictions which almost invariably do not come to pass. Often these originate from interviews he gives, which are not supposed to be made public (but this of course ensures that they spread like wildfire!). Similarly, hundreds of propaganda web pages for Sathya Sai Baba are found, but do not be taken in by all the apparent 'proofs' and fine talk, for it is often clever misinformation. It is virtually impossible nowadays for anyone to get inside the cult enough to learn the truth about most of the deceptions involved. Not least, one must at least have access to a reliable insider who is a fluent Telugu speaker to discover what Sai Baba really says how he rules his movement. Sai Organization sites are frankly boring, due to the brainwashed self-censorship of all followers, the syrupy worship, endless photos of 'God' and plenty of finger-pointing moralizing.

STRANGE DERANGEMENTS TAKE HOLD OF
MOST SATHYA SAI BABA DEVOTEES ONCE THEY BELIEVE THAT HE CAN CREATE AND DO
ANYTHING, THAT HE IS WHAT HE CLAIMS TO BE, GOD THE FATHER INCARNATE!
A startling number of people believe that Sathya Sai Baba 'creates' many things from nothing,
is all-powerful and knows everything about everyone. These include a dozen
heads of state, various royalty and film stars etc. His 'creations' are most
often rings, medallions, bracelets, necklaces and so on, through which he
says he communicates to - and 'sees' what happens to - his devotees. These
amulets or talismans are believed by thousands who wear them to be a 'hotline'
to Sai Baba and also they "bind people to him" and he can see him in
them! This claim is made by Sai Baba himself... rings that work in much the
same was as the rings created by Dark Lord Sauron in Tolkien's famous fiction!!

The 'Lord of the Rings' is a myth about an evil Lord, Sauron, who wishes to control everyone and everything, but is confronted by a good wizard called Gandalf and others. Living in South India today is the remarkable Sathya Sai Baba, who is believed to be the Lord of All, the One God Incarnate by some millions of people, many spread around the globe! He often proclaims himself as the true Saviour of mankind, a 'Divine Avatar' here to save the world from catastrophe. With much local and other help, he has developed a huge legend around himself, which often surpasses anything claimed or heard of before, even in the Bible! |

There are strange parallels between various figures in 'The Lord of the Rings' and Sathya Sai Baba (SSB) and in events that occur in both 'legends' . Sai Baba is believed by millions to 'manifest' things from nothing,. His 'creations' are most often rings, medallions, bracelets, necklaces, watches, fruit, sweets, food, money. Yet he says he can turn earth into sky and vice-versa, that he contains all powers in his hand and knows everything about everyone. It is extremely difficult to sort the fact from the fiction, even after decades of investigating the matter. Very few get close enough or the access to find out! But in 20 years your present author happened to do so! |

The
major issue is whether Sathya Sai Baba really as pure and good as he constantly
repeats he is, or is he blemished and bad at the core? Even
if we accept that some or even many of the alleged 'miracles' attributed to
Sai Baba through the past 70-plus years do have some real basis in people's
experiences, there remain many more incredible claims by him to which a follower
has to relate. Amazingly many persons soon surrender all wit and reason and
believe literally anything Sai Baba says, however contradictory, however unlikely
or totally impossible. The number of such persons is far more than it is easy
for an outsider to believe! These awkward beliefs are not central to the Sai Baba
story as a whole (about 500 books in English alone), but they come as an unavoidable
part of the baggage… The key beliefs and hopes that help attach more than
a million people to him are for personal salvation, 'healing', and liberation
in the afterlife. It cannot be denied that Sathya Sai Baba is credited with with inexplicable
healing, 'miraculous' interventions and inspiring to a lot of good works
and service of others... However, this is still the very deceptive bright
side of his other more than unfortunate activities.
