Kottivakkam Dental Centre (KDC) for Acute Help * South India

Updated 2008-10-13

The goal of the project is to provide acute dental treatment for the needy people of Kottivakkam and the nearby villages. Many of the local people have been deprived of dental care and oral hygiene, and there is thus a great demand for acute dental help. The project became operational on April 1, 2001 and before this date there was no dental care available to them. Sampath (Sam) Sridhar, the project manager of The Kottivakkam Dental Centre is responsible for the operation of the clinic program.

The dental project was initiated by Dr. A. Syed from Lørenskog, Norway, who himself is an active Rotary Dental Volunteer and has served in Guatamala, Brazil, Jamaica,  Mexico, Kenya and Kottivakkam. The Rotary International Dental Clinic in Kottivakkam is the result of a positive cooperative effort between 3 parties; the Rotary Club Guindy, India, the Lørenskog Rotary Club, Norway, and the Friends Association for the Kottivakkam Dental Centre, of Norway.
